The files on your computer — photos of family, important documents, letters, scans — are usually irreplaceable. Computers, on the other hand, aren't. Losing one and realising your only copy was on it is a horrible feeling.

Depending on what suits you best, that might mean an external hard drive that does it quietly in the background, a secure online backup that runs whenever you're connected, or a combination of both.
